I call myself a machinist, for lack of a better term. I use the word “machinist” because it says simply that I work with metal lathes, milling machines, and grinders.

Plaster Cast < Previous | Next > Architectural details are sometimes lost or damaged over time. I made a rubber mold off an original face brick, and cast some replacements in plaster.

In reality, I am more than a workman at a machine. I’m a designer, an inventor, a problem solver; what I call into play depends on the job at hand. I build prototypes, one of a kind tools, and machines out of metal and plastic. Repair parts for antique cars, keys for ancient box locks, or rejuvenating vintage plumbing fixtures are part of my diet. Perhaps the best way I can describe what I do is show you some photographs of things I have made.

Viewing the photos, you may appreciate the thought and work that goes into each object, its complexity or its elegance. Most everything made in my shop is a one of a kind project; there is no catalog. Each piece of every assembly must be thought out, sketched, designed and built to work with the whole.
